Porter-Cable 352VS 8 Amp 3-Inch-by-21-Inch Variable-Speed Belt Sander with Cloth Dust Bag

Porter-Cable 352VS 8 Amp 3-Inch-by-21-Inch Variable-Speed Belt Sander with Cloth Dust Bag Review

Porter-Cable's 3-by-21-inch belt sander features an all-metal housing that gives the tool a solid feel, makes it tough to damage, and lets you sand effectively without having to press down. This sander also does a great job of keeping belts centered, a terrific bonus because there's nothing more frustrating that having to constantly re-center a belt. According to Porter-Cable, the all-metal housing accounts for the centered placement of the belts. The sander remains rigid, even during heavy use, and the metal helps dissipate heat, keeping the belt relatively cool and in place.

This sander also has a variable-speed dial that lets you match the speed of the belt with the application, so you can speed up for aggressive removal or dial down for more precision. We really like the 360-degree adjustable top dust nozzle--a feature you won't find on many belt sanders--because it lets you pivot the dust bag (or hose if you're hooked up to a dust vac), a huge convenience when sanding in corners or along edges. And, lastly, this is a quiet sander, thanks both to Porter-Cable's newly designed gear system, which meshes more accurately, and to the sander's serpentine drive belt, which makes considerably less noise than a more common cog system. For a belt sander, this tool is surprisingly easy on the ears, and that's a very good thing. --Jon Groebner

Kalamazoo 1SM 1" Belt Sander, 32 lbs, 1725 RPM, 1/3 HP Motor, 1" x 42" Belt, 4" Contact Wheel Feature

  • Uses 1" x 42" belts.
  • Motor: 1/3 HP, 1 PH
  • Speed: 1,725 RPM
  • Tilt work table.
  • 4" contact wheel. Belt supporter.
There are lots of ways to sharpen edge tools, but the Kalamazoo Belt Sander does an impressive job in just a couple of minutes. It weighs just 32 pounds, so it is portable, but it is very well built. Spring tensioned rollers maintain consistent belt tension and tracking. Magnate R1X30S80 1" x 30" Closed Coat Sanding Belt, Aluminum Oxide - 800 Grit; X Weight

Magnate R1X30S80 1" x 30" Closed Coat Sanding Belt, Aluminum Oxide - 800 Grit; X Weight Review

Magnate R1X30S80 1" x 30" Closed Coat Sanding Belt, Aluminum Oxide - 800 Grit; X Weight Feature

  • Woodworking or Metalworking; 800 Grit; X Weight; 10 Belts/Pkg; Resin Bond Polyester/Cotton Backings
  • Closed Coat
This closed coat aluminum oxide belt uses a "X" weight 65/35 polyester/cotton backing with a resin bond system. It is suitable for sanding and fine finishing wood as well as ferrous metals where extra fine finish and/or flexibility are required. Aluminum Oxide Abrasive Grain - Aluminum oxide is extremely tough and has a wedge shape for high penetration of tough materials without excessive shedding or fracturing of the grain. Aluminum oxide is suited particularly well for grinding high tensile strength materials i.e. carbon steels, alloy steels, tough bronze and hard woods. Aluminum oxide is used whenever toughness ( the ability to resist fracturing ) is the main consideration. Aluminum oxide products are typically brown in color. Closed Coat Abrasive Grain Coverage - Abrasive grains cover 100% of the coated surface. The greater number of abrasive grains normally results in a better finish and a higher amount of stock removal during the useful life of the product. If loading is not a problem, a Closed Coat product will give you superior life and lower cost. Closed Coat products are widely used in metalworking and woodworking applications. Resin Bond Backings - Resin bond backings offer greater resistance to heat , are more durable in heavy stock removal applications and provide the best all-around bond system.

Heavy-duty miter gauge
Powder coated paint
Bearings: Shielded ball bearing construction
Disc speed: 1,725 RPM

This production style 12-inch disc sander is ideal for shaping and smoothing edges, squaring end-cuts and truing simple and compound miters.

This Heavy-Duty Combination Sander uses a 6" x 48" belt, a 12" disc, and a 1-1/2 HP motor to tackle your toughest sanding operations. Unlike many belt-driven sanders that require adjustments, the Shop Fox W1712 uses a direct ball-bearing drive from the motor to the sanding disc and belt to deliver a maintenance and vibration-free positive torque flow. For increased sanding versatility and control, both cast-iron tables accept the miter gauge.
